Testimonials

"This was my first real attempt at astrophotography. I was amazed at the quality and composition of the photos taken on my first outing! Matt did a really great job working with my knowledge level and teaching me how to photograph the night sky. He chose a great location in the Outer Banks. We hope to be able to do more workshops with him in other areas of the country in the future."

- Tammy

"First off, this entire experience deserves 10 stars! (Pun intended) Matt is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, no matter what level of photography experience you have he explains in a way you can understand. He went above and beyond my expectations and we felt super comfortable the entire time, like if we've known him for a while. I even was able to capture the Milky Way with my iPhone after learning about how to adjust my settings as a bonus! From his kind demeanor, location choice, communicating weather updates, recommendations to local spots to everything we learned from him, Matt's your guy if you're looking for something truly unique! I bought this a gift for my boyfriend's birthday, since we both share a love for photography and now I can say, we have found something we can do together as a couple, and have gained a friend in the process. We highly recommend this class with Matt! Astrophotography is a magical thing! Thank you Matt for sharing a bit of your magic and your time with us."

Let me just start by saying DO IT! Me and my friend drove up from Phoenix to learn how to shoot astrophotography for the first time with Matt. Matt was welcoming, very communicative, flexible and super accommodating. He knows his stuff; we learned about how the rotation of the earthworks in regards to the stars and their movement, how the moon sets at a certain time of night, when the best months are to shoot as well as the best times of night. He taught us alot in regards to light polution, astronomy and of course all the technical stuff involved with the cameras. Even while teaching us so much, it didn't feel like a class, instead, everything flowed and was very interesting. He accommodated to help us get any shots we wanted and was happy to answer all the questions we had. Matt is a super laid back, down to earth guy who knows far beyond astrophotography, he was super knowledgable when it came to anything outdoors or camera-related as well. I was able to capture a ton of awesome photos, and spending the money on help from a pro was worth it; his six years of knowledge condensed down into a few hours saved us hours and hours of figuring it out on our own. Thanks to Matt, I think I just found a new fantastic hobby.

Matt is an AMAZING guide! He is very patient and knows a lot about capturing stars through a lens. I didn't have a professional camera, but Matt was happy to teach me how to adjust my smartphone and gopro settings to capture the stars. This was my first attempt at astrophotography and the worshop is VERY beginner-friendly! Even if you don't have a professional camera, the stars themselves are an INCREDIBLE experience! Matt is also very reassuring - being a solo female traveler myself, he addressed ALL of my concerns regarding safety and what to expect. He'll go out of his way to cater to your needs/concerns (he kindly offered his female partner tag along so I could feel more at ease).  This was definitely an expereince I will never forget! If ever in the Moab area, I definitely recommend !
